The "Beginning" of the Sack of Crabs

Here is our lot.  It is approximately 1,000 feet from the beach!  The plan is to get a golf cart with a flip seat (to seat 4) to drive our hips back and forth to the beach. If Ronnie has his way, the golf cart will have the Sack of Crabs logo on it, 6" lift package and chrome wheels.   We shall see!

Street view, looking due east to the ocean.  The road "Bold Dune Drive" is a dead-end.  Actually has a little bit of a cul-de-sac at the end.  Just enough to park the golf cart out of the way.  The homes straight ahead are ocean front with a dune between them and the open seas.

Here are a couple pics of the floor plans.  The first is the front elevation.  The dining room and living room are located on the top floor at the front of the house.

First Floor - 3 bedrooms, 2 baths and laundry room

Top Floor with master bedroom, 1/2 bath on landing of steps, living room, kitchen & dining room

We hope that our next post will show some activity on the lot.

Sea ya!!

The Saga of the Sack of Crabs

Ron and I have always dreamed of a vacation home to escape to.  In late May we decided to make that dream come true.  We are building a beach house in the Outer Banks of North Carolina, on Hatteras Island, in the quaint town of Waves!!!  Wooohoooo!!!    It will proudly be christened the "Sack of Crabs"!

Ron and I have been vactioning at the Outer Banks with his sister Dana and her husband Frank twice a summer for many years now and we enjoy every visit like it was our first, so it made perfect sense that this is where our beach house was meant to be!

For my sister and her family and my brother, all of whom live out west, my parents, Ron's family who are spread throughout Virginia and our close friends, we are creating this blog so you can share in the excitment with us as we realize a dream come true.  Everyone is welcome to come and visit!  Hatteras Island is a beautiful place to visit, vacation and spend time with family and friends making memorable moments.

Okay, so you are probably wondering "why the Sack of Crabs?"  Well it goes like this, Ron's niece and her family (the Gormans) along with his 2 sisters and their husbands (the Stutts and the Perkins) have vacationed together in the Outer Banks 1 week out of every summer for many, many years.  Over the past several years Ron and I have had the opportunity to join them.  Coincidently, they have rented the same house for those several years named the "Blue Crab".  For what every reason (I refuse to acknowledge age as one of them) I was unable to remember the house name "Blue Crab" and referred to it as the "Sack of Crabs"...... needless to say that stuck.  The "Blue Crab" has been affectionately referred to as the "Sack of Crabs" by all ever since.   It only seemed appropriate (not to mention unanimous amongst the family) that the beach house be named "Sack of Crabs".  I hope you all have an opportunity to visit the Sack of Crabs and enjoy all that Hatteras Island has to offer.

Stayed tuned.  I will post pictures of the lot and street view once Ron is able to get them uploaded for me.  The builder (Carl "Pogie" Worsley) plans to start driving the pilings next week.  In the mean time, enjoy a couple of pictures from our vacation on Hatteras Island just last month.
