Irene is in the house!!

As if a 5.8 magnitude Earthquake on 08/23/2011 wasn't enough to shake things up a bit, Irene is determined to not be out done!!
Track Irene
Irene is proving to be one tough hombre!!

Pogie and his team are working very hard to get the house "weather" tight in anticipation of Hurricane Irene.  The plan is to have the siding up before she hits.  Pictures below are from 08/24/2011.

Rear of cottage
West side - top floor

About half-way done with cedar shake siding.

I will keep everybody updated as I get information.  No need to worry about the house as you cannot waste your energy worrying about things you have no ability to change, just pray that Irene does not do too much damage to the island and its residents and that everyone is kept safe.

Until the next update, take care!

Red Roof On!! (Not to be confused with Red Roof Inn)

Roof is just about complete - we are diggin' the "cottage red!"  Both doors will be painted "cottage red" to set off the roof.

Windows are all in - doors are hung - plumbing roughed in.

Bump out is half-bath between floors. Transom window needs to be put in.  It will bring additional light for the stairwell.

We had a great time with Frank and Dana this weekend!   On Saturday, we spent some time with our builder, Pogie, picked out our kitchen and bath cabinets, picked out our counter tops and picked out our kitchen appliances to include the washer and dryer.  And if that wasn't enough, we squeezed in time to price shop and purchase the bedroom sets and of course, eat at our favorite restaurant, the Top Dog!
It was a great weekend!

Until the next posting, take care and talk to you all soon!

Windows and more!!

The Sack of  Crabs is really beginning to take shape.  Windows are in.  Also scheduled for this week are shingles.  As you recall we went with a "cottage" red shingle that will serve as an accent to the red front door & dining room door.  Sounds good, huh?!?  UGH!!  Just a tad nervous about the "red roof" decision. . . .we shall see?!?!

All but 1 window are in!

The dining room and wrap around dinner deck

Living room.  Dining room is the kick out to the right.

Dining room.

Kitchen.  Pantry is the bump out in between the 2 windows. The sink will be under the smaller window and as you come around to the right, it will be home to the oven and lastly, the refrigerator.  There will be a center island placed diagonally that will also serve as a breakfast bar.

A big "shout out" to our builder, Pogie for keeping us abreast of the progress with all the great pictures!!  Ronnie and I are really looking forward to going down to the beach this weekend with Dana and Frank and actually walking through the house for the first time.  We will also be picking out our cabinets, counter tops and appliances.  So until next time. . . . . Sea ya!!
