Roof on . . . .windows ready to be set!

House is really beginning to take shape.  It is under roof.  Windows have been delivered (sitting under house to the right) and they plan to be setting them this week.

West side of house.  Top floor is living room in the front and master bedroom in the back on the west side.  The kick out on the top floor is the dining room with the kitchen behind it facing north and east.  Our lot is very wide yet shallow.  The septic and drain field is on the west side of the house vs. behind the house.  This gives us quite a bit of distance between us and our neighbor on the west side as you can see from this angle.

Our favorite peeps at our favorite restaurant on Hatteras Island, just last week!!!  This is (l-r) Ronnie's sister Theresa,  sister Dana and her husband Frank (TT's husband, Roy, is taking the pic) enjoying a wonderful meal at the incredible Top Dog Cafe. . . and I am not talking hot dogs (although you can order one).  Top Dog Cafe has the absolutely, hands down, BEST fish tacos on the east coast, not to mention the Carribean shrimp and Jamaican tuna wraps, Mahi BLT and the ultimate Big Kahoona burger!  All served with the most incredible black beans, rice and homemade salsa (or you can opt for french fries).  Top Dog is about 1/2 mile north of the Sack of Crabs.

Let's Raise the Roof!!

On Tuesday July 26th the trusses went up, up and up!

Now for the plywood sheathing . . .

Next. . . . our "cottage red" shingles will be going on!!

Lastly. . . . it is with mixed emotions we must report that Ms. Della is official sold.  We do have some great photos of her that we will find a special place for in the beach cottage.   Only seems fitting since she has afforded us with the ability to furnish our cottage.  We sold her to a great family that promises to carry on her legacy.

Have a great week!

HOT!! HOT!! HOT!!

TRIPLE DIGITS!!!

Trusses to be delivered on Monday (7/25) and placed on Tuesday - didn't make it this week.  Very, very hot for the guys to work in this week.  First picture is the progress as of Friday 7/22.

If you look real close you can see the steps underneath the back left corner of the house.  They will take you from the carport to the first floor.  There will also be steps leading to the first floor on the right had side of the house as well.  These steps will keep us young!  Top Floor walls are up with the exception of the front walls.

Picture I took last week of "our" beach at the end of our street!  I say "our" beach beacuse this was taken last week at the height of the tourist season and you can see how quiet it is.  It's like having your very own slice of heaven!!

This is Ronnie and Frank (brother-in-law) last weekend (7/16) checking out the framer's handy work!!

Sea ya next week.  Hope you have a wonderful weekend.        PS. Vickie & Dave - hope you caught plenty of crabs and were able to enjoy them for dinner!!  Please send pictures of the boat - can't wait to see it finished.

Soaring to the 2nd Floor!!

Top floor walls are going up.  Trusses should be brought in by crane this week.  Definitely on target for a November closing.

Second floor coming to life!

Sound view from the living room windows and deck

Ocean view from the dining room windows.  It is barely visible (but we will
take it!) and gives you a good perspective as to where the house sits in
relationship to the ocean and sound.

Talk to you soon - start planning your trip to the Outer Banks in 2012!!
